A friendly East Cape town known for peace, tranquility, and winter wind sports.
Los Barriles is on the East Cape about 1.5 hours from La Paz and roughly an hour from the Los Cabos airport, which makes it one of the easiest East Cape towns to reach. It's larger and more developed than La Ventana, with beachfront hotels, restaurants, and a long-established community of snowbirds and expats. Buenavista Beach, just south of town, is a favorite for windsurfing and kiteboarding, with the same reliable winter winds that make the East Cape famous.
Away from the water, the arroyos and mountains behind town offer mountain biking, hiking, and desert exploring, and Cabo Pulmo National Park is about an hour to the south for snorkeling and diving.
Good to know: Wind season runs roughly November through March. Summers are hot and humid, with the best fishing and calmer water. A rental car is the easiest way to get around.
